Looking to the importance of the subject, the Vth Deans’ Committee of ICAR included the course “Introductory Biology” for Under Graduate students of Agriculture discipline. This manual has been prepared specially keeping this course in mind. It covers the entire syllabus with different sets of practical exercises in a systematic and comprehensive manner. Fifteen practical exercises have been included. The diagrams included are neat, labelled and well-drawn to provide an imagination of what these might look like in real sense. Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution,

distribution and taxonomy. Practical applications of biology are of paramount importance not only in the field of life sciences but also in Agriculture.
